ALIVELY HEALTH DATA CONSENT NOTICE
Last updated: August 25, 2026
This notice explains what you are agreeing to when you consent to Alively processing your health data. It supplements our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use rather than replacing them.
1. What Alively does with health data
Alively works by looking at your wearable data and your answers to assessment questions, and using them to suggest one wellness focus at a time.
This is general wellness guidance. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a substitute for working with a qualified healthcare professional such as your doctor. You should consult a qualified healthcare professional before making health-related decisions or changes to your lifestyle based on anything the Platform tells you.
2. Why we need your explicit consent
Health data is “special category” data under Article 9 of the GDPR, which sets a higher bar than ordinary personal data. We process it on the basis of your explicit consent under Article 9(2)(a).
That consent is asked for as a separate, specific step before you start using Alively. It is deliberately not bundled into accepting our Terms of Use, because consent to process special category data has to stand on its own to be valid.
3. What we process
Depending on which device you connect and what you choose to share:
- Heart and circulation — resting, average, minimum and maximum heart rate; heart-rate variability; heart-rate zones
- Sleep — time asleep; time in deep, light and REM sleep; time in bed; wake-ups; time to fall asleep; sleep efficiency; naps; sleep scores
- Breathing and oxygen — respiratory rate, blood-oxygen saturation, VO2 max, snoring
- Activity — steps, distance, floors climbed, elevation, pace, cadence, power, calories burned, active and inactive time, and the type, duration and intensity of workouts
- Body measurements — height, weight, BMI, body-fat percentage, muscle mass, lean mass, bone mass, body water, estimated fitness age
- Stress and recovery — stress levels and duration; readiness, recovery and strain scores
- Blood glucose — daily average, time in range, sensor usage, if you use a monitor
- Nutrition — calories, macronutrients, micronutrients, hydration, and the meals and drinks you log
- Temperature — changes in skin temperature during sleep
If you do not connect a device, we ask you these questions instead, and your answers are health data in exactly the same way that a wearable’s readings are. Your assessment answers, habit logs, and weekly check-ins are covered by this consent too.
4. What we use it for
- Calculating your health metrics, scores and trends
- Choosing the One Thing you focus on, and recommending a solution to try
- Tracking your progress over time
- Sending you reminders and check-in notifications about the focus you chose
We do not use your health data to make decisions about you that produce legal or similarly significant effects. Our scoring and recommendations are suggestions you choose whether to act on.
5. Who else sees it
Your health data is handled by the service providers who help us run Alively, under contract and on our instructions. The ones that receive health data are Google Cloud Platform, which hosts our application and database, and Terra, which carries data from your wearable or health app into Alively. The full list of providers, and what each receives, is in our Privacy Policy.
We do not sell your health data, and we do not share it for advertising.
If your employer sponsors your Alively account, they never see your individual health data — not your metrics, your scores, your assessment answers, your check-ins, which device you connected, or whether you connected one. They see only aggregated statistics across their whole population. Your consent is yours: declining has no effect on your employment, and nothing is reported to your employer about that choice.
6. Withdrawing your consent
You can withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing is as easy as giving it, as required by Article 7(3).
Alively cannot function without processing health data — it is the whole of what the product does — so withdrawing consent means closing your account. You can do that in the app under Settings → Delete account, which takes effect immediately, or by following the steps at alively.com/legal/delete-account.
Withdrawing your consent does not affect processing that already took place while the consent was valid.
7. Changes to this notice
We will update this notice as Alively changes. Where a change materially affects what you consented to, we will ask you to give your consent again rather than relying on the consent you have already given.
